About Me

I grew up in the "Wheat Capitol of the World"- playing in the dirt all day, hiking, building forts, and fishing as much as possible.  I started to get serious about art when I was in preschool.  On preschool graduation day we had to proclaim our aspirations for the life ahead of us, and I already knew I wanted to be an artist.  That, and Heman.
Well I did continuing to do art up into college, where I took my first computer animation class.  I loved it, and wanted to do more- a lot more- I decided that I wanted to do feature film animation, actually.  Unfortunately, the school I was attending didn't have anything else to offer, so I moved to Denver and finished my schooling there.  While in school, I started doing contract illustration for Sony Online Entertainment in Denver. The week I graduated, I got hired at a video game developer near Boulder, as a conceptual artist (and eventually an animator).  I worked there for over 3 years until something amazing happened that changed my life.  I quit my job there and moved back here to Kansas with my wife and two sons in tow.  Winston Churchill once said "We occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of us pick ourselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened."
Wellington isn't exactly known as an art scene, but there are plenty of talented people even around here.  I grew up copying down everything my dad drew.  He taught me how to draw people when I was in elementary school, and provided a great example what human beings created in the image of God are actually capable of- not just in art.  He taught me that whether it's art, science, sports or whatever... if you have patience and are willing to work hard, then there's no question that you can do things that most people didn't even know were possible.
